1 Dec 2014 GOSPEL MT 8:5-11

GOSPEL MT 8:5-11

When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully." He said to him, "I will come and cure him." The centurion said in reply, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come here,' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, "Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. I say to you, many will come from the east and the west, and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet in the Kingdom of heaven."

Reflection:

V hv begun d season of Advent. It is a season, when v prepare ourselves for d coming of Christ, especially into our hearts. While welcoming Christ into our lives v must hv d deep faith as well as d gr8 humility like Centurion in today's Gospel.

Although the Centurion was in gr8 power & authority, an important official in d Roman Army, yet he became humble b4 Jesus bz he knew & believed that there was nobody who could heal his servant bt Jesus. His deep faith in Jesus & his humility brought healing to his servant.

The Centurion thought himself unworthy to receive Christ into his house. Similarly, v all of us r unworthy to stand b4 Jesus. Bt He is d One who always accepts us as v r inspite of all our weaknesses & unworthiness.

Like d Centurion, v too must surrender our lives to Jesus, hv deep faith in Him, cum to Him wt a humble heart & as d Centurion prayed for his servant, v must also pray for 1 another's healing. This is d beauty of living a holy & gd Christian life.

Wt a gr8 faith & wt a humble heart, let us all own d Centurion's words: "O Lord, I m nt worthy that You should come under my roof, bt only say the word & my soul shall b healed."

Jesus loves u. Hv a 1dful week wt Jesus. God bless.
