2 December 2014 GOSPEL LK 10:21-24
Tuesday of the First Week of Advent
GOSPEL LK 10:21-24
Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, "I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him."
Turning to the disciples in private he said, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it."
Reflection:
In today's Gospel, Jesus called His dlisciples 'blessed' bz they were enabled to see d days of d Messiah & witness His marvellous words & works, which evn many prophets & holy men could nt see.
The disciples were more blessed bz they had witnessed, the Son of God, became flesh & dwelt among us (Jn 1:14). They witnessed this event & evn lived wt d Incarnate God.
There were many other pple - the Scribes, the Pharisees, the Sadducees who had evn seen d Messiah bt did nt believe in Him.
V, d believers in Christ, r more blessed bz v hv seen God's salvation & love manifested in d Person Christ. 'Blessedness' means firmly believing in Christ & spreading d Kingdom of God.
V must recognize our blessedness which God in His mercy has bestowed on us. Let us all thank God for all His blessings & for His gr8 love for us revealing in Jesus Christ.
Jesus loves u. Hv a blessed day
