27 December 2014 - Gospel: John 20:2-8

The Feast of St John, The Apostle, The Evangelist

Gospel: John 20:2-8

On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they put him." So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.

Reflection:

Today, v celebrate d feast of St. John d apostle & evangelist. John & his elder brother James - both fishermen - were followers of John d Baptist until Jesus called them to b His disciples.

In the Gospels, v read of John being among d 3 disciples closest to Jesus & present at important events in Jesus' ministry. This is perhaps y d Gospel according to John presents nt so much d parables (found in Mathew, Mark and Luke) but deep insights thru d teachings & signs of Jesus.

John illustrates hw pple thru their encounter wt Jesus, move frm ignorance to discovery of who He truly is!

Like John, may v too share our God-experience, communicating the Good News to pple in a manner they understand best.

Jesus loves u. Happy Feast. Hv a gr8 weekend wt Jesus. God bless.

💐 💙 Wt Love...... Fr Robin, Powai 💙
