Thursday of the First Week of Advent

GOSPEL MT 7:21, 24-27

Jesus said to his disciples: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

"Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."

Reflection:

In today's Gospel, Jesus made it very clear that only those who r faithful to His Word wd enter into d Kingdom of heaven. Today's passage reminds that following Christ does nt mean simply saying v believe. Following Christ means doing d will of d Father.
Christ is d word made flesh. If v do nt see God's will in Christ's msg, v miss d point. Christ is d visible sign of God's love for us. Christ is d Rock & v shd build our lives upon this Rock. He is d sure foundation for our faith & our life. Christ is d Living Stone (1 Peter 2:4). St. Paul said, "For no 1 can lay any foundation other than d 1 that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ (1 Cor 3:11)."

V must pattern our lives on d teachings of Christ otherwise v ll b like those foolish builders laying our foundations on sand and surely storms & floods will break our lives. Bt if v build our lives on Christ's teachings, no storm can affect us.

May v always profess that Jesus Christ is Lord, accept His Words & do His will in our lives.
