GOSPEL MK 1:14-20
After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the Gospel of God: "This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel."
As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men." Then they left their nets and followed him. He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.
Reflection:
Jesus' 4 new disciples Simon & Andrew, then James & John after them spontaneously abandon everything to follow Jesus. What made them to do that?
Jesus' powerful msg in today's Gospel: "The time is fulfilled & d kingdom of God has drawn near. Repent & believe d Good News!" made a gr8 impact on them. Today, this msg wd probably translate as: "God has broken into d world. That's good news; you wd better shape up & believe it!"
The 4 disciples of Jesus blindly followed Him. They didnt know what they were doing bt they were convinced & confident abt what they going to do.
The questn comes to our mind - So y follow Jesus? Perhaps commitment to Him is d answer to a call for change?
Perhaps His Good News is worth giving up our lives for?
May b v realise that God's kingdom is a reality that v need to share? Or,
Perhaps, d reality of Jesus' love is so compelling that v can only spontaneously 'leave our nets' & follow Him.
Are v ready????????
Jesus loves u. Hv a gr8 week wt Jesus. God bless.
