GOSPEL MK 1:29-39
On leaving the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. Simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her. He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them.
When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. The whole town was gathered at the door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him.
Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed. Simon and those who were with him pursued him and on finding him said, "Everyone is looking for you." He told them, "Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come." So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee.
Reflection:
V continue to reflect upon d public life of Jesus. It was still d Sabbath & after d synagogue service, Jesus now goes to d house of His two disciples, Simon & Andrew in Capernaum.
In the house Jesus finds Peter's mother-in-law sick wt fever. When He is told about it, He immediately goes to see her, takes her by d hand, lifts her up & heals her. Immediately, she gets up & begins to serve them. A lesson to learn to b grateful.
The following morning, Jesus leaves, goes to d hills to b alone & to pray. Every1 was searching for Him. There were many demands being made on Jesus by d people of Capernaum for healing, bt Jesus:
a. Needs time for Himself to renew His spiritual energy & b in contact with His Father, &
b. Has to think of d needs of other pple as well.
Jesus teaches us to pray & d importance for us of availability. V do need to b available to all those who are in genuine need.
We also need 'quality time' to be with God, to pray & to reflect on our priorities.
Jesus loves u. Hv a blessed day wt Jesus. God bless.
