GOSPEL
MT 6:7-15

Jesus said to his disciples:
"In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

"This is how you are to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

"If you forgive men their transgressions,
your heavenly Father will forgive you.
But if you do not forgive men,
neither will your Father forgive your transgressions."

Reflection:

In today's Gospel, Jesus taught d disciples d beautiful prayer 'Our Father'. This is d most simple, bt d most powerful prayer ever taught.

Jesus introduced to us that God is our Father, who loves us, cares for us. God is our Father by creation. He created us & it is He who sustains us. His name must b hallowed. V must bcm aware of His holiness. V must approach Him wt reverence.

Jesus makes us aware that b4 praying for our needs v must praise & glorify Father's name and pray that His kingdom must come on this earth & His will must b done on earth as it is in heaven.
God, our Father provides us wt evrythg. He knows all our needs very well.

V r all debtors to God. V owe Him a lot. A lot of debts - our accumulated sins. Lent is a season to experience joy of forgiveness. The deeper meaning of Lord's Prayer is nt just that God is our Father in heaven bt also that all human beings r brothers & sisters on earth. This is y a true prayer cannot b offered unless v make peace wt our neighbours.

How??? - By not getting our pride in d way bt humbling ourselves, becoming more patient wt our bros & sisters & forgiving & understandg them, admitting our mistakes, accepting d past, which v cannot change.

Lent is d best time to overcome our sinful habits & experience love, peace & joy.
