15 January 2015 - GOSPEL MK 1:40-45

GOSPEL MK 1:40-45

A leper came to him and kneeling down begged him and said, "If you wish, you can make me clean." Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched the leper, and said to him, "I do will it. Be made clean." The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean. Then, warning him sternly, he dismissed him at once. Then he said to him, "See that you tell no one anything, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them." The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter. He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere.

Reflection:

In today's Gospel, v saw Jesus touched d leper who approached Him humbly & confidently. He made him whole & clean wt His love & compassion.

The Lepers were outcasts of society. They were driven frm their homes & communities & left all alone to themselves. Their physical condition was terrible as they slowly lost d use of their limbs & withered away.

They were nt only shunned bt regarded as "already dead" even by their own relatives. The Jewish law forbade any1 frm touching or approaching a leper bz they were considered unclean.

Today's Gospel story shd compel us to, like the leper, come b4 Jesus wt all our uncleanness, wt all of our diseases & fall on our knees. Pleading. Nt hiding our faults, bt confessing them. And asking Jesus to make us clean.

And then v wait for Jesus to reach out & touch us.

Jesus loves u. Hv a nice day wt Jesus. God bless.
